Double Hung. Also known as a sash window,
the window panels open by sliding up and down in
vertical grooves, possibly aided by a system of
cords and balanced weights. Open by sliding one
sash vertically past another.
A casement window is a window with hinges
attached at the side and crank out to open
vertically, like a door.
An awning window is a window that is
hinged at the top and swings open
from the bottom outward.
Bow & Bay windows are window
combinations that project outward from
a home. Usually fixed windows.
Skylight Are designed for installation
of sloped surfaces. Such as the roof.
Glider/Slider A horizontal sash
window by sliding one sash horizontally
past the other.
Specialty or "odd shaped" windows are
generally stationary windows with curved
shapes or angles other than 90°.
Picture & transom windows are
stationary windows designed to match
double-hung or casement windows.
Colonial style or Grilled are sash or
fixed windows with interior or exterior
grilling. We refer to colonials as
EXTERIOR GRILL windows.
